Presentation of innovative scientific projects to representatives of the business sector took place in Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University on May 7.
The organizers of the meeting were Tbilisi State University (the Department of Scientific Research and Development), the adminisrtation of the President of Georgia and the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
More than 80 projects in the spehere of engineering, high tech, biotechnology, communication, health protection, mineral mining, processing industry, foodstuffs production, wine-making, pharmaceutics were represented at the meeting. Representatives of Georgian business companies and foreign companies working in Tbilsi attended the meeting.
It was the first large-scale meeting between scientists and businessmen held in Georgia.
The participants were addressed by TSU’s Rector Professor Giorgi Khubua, the President of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Jemal Inaishvili, scientific advisor to the President of Georgia – Aleko Ghonghadze.
The speakers stressed an important role of science commercialization for the country’s economic development and stated that it is time that the ties between scientists and business should become more active.
Several concrete cooperation prospects were designated during the display stand presentation.
